Why a Daily Mobility Routine Matters

Mobility exercises aren’t just for athletes or yogis—they’re essential for everyone. Here’s why incorporating a daily mobility routine into your life is so important:

 1. Prevents Injury

Regular mobility exercises help improve your range of motion, making it easier to perform daily activities without straining your muscles and joints. According to the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies, consistent mobility work can significantly reduce the risk of injury.

 2. Reduces Pain

A consistent mobility routine can help alleviate chronic pain by improving muscle balance and joint function. It’s like giving your body a daily tune-up to keep everything running smoothly.

 3. Enhances Flexibility

Improving your flexibility through daily mobility exercises can make your movements more fluid and less restricted. This is especially important as we age, to maintain independence and overall quality of life.

Unique Daily Mobility Routine

Here’s a fresh and unique routine you can do daily to keep your body in top shape. Follow these detailed instructions or check out the linked videos for a visual guide.

1. Assisted Runner’s Stretch

Instructions:

  1. Kneel on the floor and place the back of your left heel to the front of the right knee. If you are able place your hands on the ground. If you are unable use a block or chair to get a good stretch in both legs

2. Stand up and bend over while rolling your hips back to place an arch into your lower back.

3. Tighten your thighs and keep knees straight while relaxing your upper body.

4.  Hold as directed, and breathe through your diaphragm.

5.  Switch sides and repeat.

Tip: This exercise helps improve hip mobility. Imagine you’re prepping for a race, even if the only running you do is to catch the ice cream truck.

2. Upper Spinal Floor Twist

Instructions:

  1. Lie on one side in the fetal position with your arms straight out from your shoulders in front of you.
  2. Stack your knees one directly atop the other, where they should remain throughout the exercise.
  3. Open the top arm, lifting it up and over your body to the other side letting it rest to the floor or as close to the floor as you are able.
  4. Move your head to look in the same direction as that arm.
    • Do NOT let your knees come apart while moving the arm to the other side.
    • Use your bottom hand to hold your knees together and keep them stacked on top of one another.
    • Remember to breathe.
    • Allow your body to open up.
  5. Hold as directed.
  6. Switch sides and repeat.

Tip: This exercise targets the upper spine, improving rotation and relieving tension. Think of it as wringing out your stress, one twist at a time.

3. Pelvic Tilts

Instructions:

1. Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor.

2. Gently tilt your pelvis towards your belly button, flattening your lower back against the floor.

3. Hold for a few seconds, then tilt your pelvis in the opposite direction, arching your lower back slightly.

4. Repeat 10-15 times.

Tip: This exercise helps improve lower back mobility and strengthen your core. It’s like giving your pelvis a little dance party—minus the embarrassing moves.

Motivational Message: The Power of Consistency

Consistency might sound tedious, but the rewards are worth it. Here’s a review from a satisfied client that underscores the importance of staying active:

“The exercises she gave me have helped me tremendously. I do them every day, and my flexibility and pain levels have improved so much.”
